You should keep rigid documentation, at least a spreadsheet with all mods you've tested, which branch they all live in, and which mods you have rejected.
Often you'll discover that some mods have overlapping functionality, or that a larger mod has all the features of a smaller. Make sure to make a note of that in your spreadsheet.
