FlowEDG currently supports the following capabilities. New capabilities are being actively developed. If you would like to see a capability added, please contact us at flowedgcfd@gmail.com and we will do our best to implement it if it aligns with our goals.
- Solves the compressible Euler and Navier-Stokes equations in 2D and 3D (no turbulence modeling, yet)
- Arbitrarily high-order accurate in space
- Unstructured with support for hybrid meshes composed of triangles, quadrangles, tetrahedron, prisms, and hexahedron.
- Option to use optimized nodal interpolation points for high order meshes
- Implicit time integration with up to third order accuracy
- MPI parallelization
- Memory requirement is quite high, particularly in 3D (60GB per 1 million p=2 tetrahedra)
- Only interfaces with GMSH mesh format (our mesh generator, MeshOpt, also interfaces with GMSH)
- While steady 3D solutions are supported, converging them in practical applications is difficult
- RANS turbulence modeling
- Sub-grid scale and wall modeling for LES
- p-Multigrid
- GPU implementation (?)
- More robust mesh generation with MeshOpt.
