I noticed that some of the readme's tables and headings were rendered incorrectly on GitHub. This pull request fixes these issues together with some general typos in the readme.
One typo fix is a duplicate of the one provided in #81. However, this pull request was not updated since Jan 25 so I thought I'd include the fix nonetheless. Therefore, if merged, this pull request closes #81.
