Damage System, first draft
Each actor in the world will be able to be equipped with armor. There will be an open slot for the follow limbs of each player:
- Head
- Chest
- Arms
- Hands
- Legs
- Feet
Questions:
- For arms, hands, and legs should we separate them to left and right?
Build actors from a torso, where limb(s) and head(s) are attached. After that the items can be attached to slot its designed for.
This way we could simulate loss of a limb, or a mutation from some bad water that you drank 250 turns ago.
When a hit comes, its somehow randomized/calculated where it hits, depending on what item is there, the item stats are used to decide what kind of damage is applied.
So basically, there would not be a "HP" system. But you may bleed out from a bad wound, or certain parts of your body may become un-usable.
Bryan: We still need some way to determine damage to a body limb. I propose we do something along the lines of Super Smash Brothers. We begin with 0 damage and then we'll have an upper limit.
