This is an alternative to #644

I've decided it's probably better to start using the "clean" hook for all models, but I've simplified it. See this comment

What I don't understand is why this has any impact on the results. Investment is slightly different, and this has a small impact on commodity prices. The changes are small so not too concerning, but strange that there would be any changes at all

LGTM! Maybe they are numerical instabilities of the solver when having to deal with a bigger matrix with extra zeros?
