Ubuntu 25.10 install fails with System program problem detected.

Device: Macbook Pro 2016 16 inch with a dedicated AMD 4GB graphics and intel integrated graphics.

I downloaded Ubuntu 25.10 using iso.sh. It downloaded fine and the script verified the download.
I tried both dd and balena etcher to write the iso to my 32 GB pen drive.

I booted into live USB and ran the installer.

The installer crashed right after it asked for name, machine name, username and password. We get the screen where the slideshow should begin and it says copying files and start installing system. It crashes right at the time it starts installing system.

The dialog that we get after the crash: System program problem detected. Do you want to report the problem now?

I tried with both internet connected (USB tether through my phone) and no internet.

Thanks for reporting the issue. The thing is Ubuntu has moved on to a new installer. The unfortunate thing is, the installer is a snap package. And currently, thanks to extremely poor documentation by Canonical, they isn't any way to include snap packages in the ISO. Also, it's not possible to customise an already available ISO as well since it now uses OverlayFS, so building ISO from scratch is the option left. While Canonical is still maintaining the Ubiquity installer, the old Ubuntu installer, looks like it's bugged in 25.10.

What I'm thinking now it probably attempting to install the new installer in live ISO. That would be

sudo snap install ubuntu-desktop-installer

While you can try this workaround, it's not tested and not guaranteed to work. I'll try my best to get some time from my college work and fix this, but if anyone is interested, they may try as well.

Ok so Ubiquity is really broken even on Official ubuntu iso

You can do that. Just add the t2 Ubuntu repo for 25.10 after you upgrade by following the instructions on https://github.com/AdityaGarg8/t2-ubuntu-repo
