Possible to share installation between host machines?

I thought I could use the storage option and set it to my external but that seems to wipe out any existing img files when set. I found this out the hard way by setting it back to default and it wiped out what I already had. Maybe should be a bug report there to add a confirmation, but whatever.

But what I'd like to be able to do is have the installation on my external drive and plug the drive into my laptop for travel work and plug it back into my desktop for day-to-day.

I saw there was a mention in an issue about setting the data directory in the config, but that might have changed because there's no data directory in .orbstack.

Is there a way to do this or am I asking too much?

I think this should work. Changing the storage location doesn't wipe anything.

That’s what I’d assume too but it did reset the img when switching back to default. I’ll test it some more to see if I can get it into a reproducible state for an issue if needed.
