Ambiguous time labeling on the X-axis

Please have a look at the time labels of the lower panel. There are three of them reading 1 ms, but only one of them is correct.

Has there been any previous discussion about this? I could not find anything in the open issues, but maybe this was a conscious decision.

There's probably no ideal way to make it perfect, but I'd propose something like this: Keep it to three significant digits for easy readability, but add another magnitude once it becomes necessary. Here's an example for the case shown above:

999μs+500ns
1ms
1ms+500ns
1,001ms
1,001ms+500ns
1,002ms

Writing 1,0005ms would start becoming hard to read, but it'd certainly be better than just 1ms in between two more 1ms.
