Dark Mode Causes Android App Refresh

When changing from light to dark or dark to light modes the app completely reloads instead of just changing the theme. (It does load with the proper theme.)

I am only using this on Android so cannot confirm if this is a problem on other platforms. I have also only been able to test this on a Google Pixel 3a and Google Pixel 4XL.

This does not happen on iOS. I have the same on Android but i have the feeling that its just how it works on android. When i change the dark-mode setting in the Android settings app and come back to my app, i don't really care if its "restarting" the app as it happens for other reasons anyways.

Changes in the configurations causes an Android Activity to reload. Please refer to the documentation here. This might be the reason that it reloads the app since it's probably reloading the MainActivity. I might be wrong about this. I am not an expert Android developer.
