Avatar images in updates

I think the right way to do this would be to have an image field in each update that is one of 1) a URL to an image and 2) null which can indicate that we should use the default image.

Yea totally, especially for Volunteers and Mentors, so people know what they look like and approach the right person. I was thinking the Amazon cloud Storage service is a place where we can put the images. For default images, i'm using gmail app style icons with first letter of the persons name and a unique background color.

just like this, except that the image corners are cut to become a circle. The gravitar icons that I posted was a placeholder

I've actually used the word "avatar" as the key for the field avatar image url field, FYI
