The layout needs a bit of mild resuscitation. It will not work well as-is, and if it happens to work - it's an EMC nightmare.

There should be margins between copper and board edge. Even if small - say 1mm.

I forked this and am doing the changes, will update the issue once I'm done.

This one was one of my first assembled pcbs so I wanted to try a few things. I have some notes that I will convert into issues.
Around the same time I did the esp8266 board where I did use the bare bones ESP8266EX. So I might go down that route with this board too.
