This pr aims to fix #196

When on medium-width screen devices, the navbar contents are overflowing.

How did I fix ->

  1. Wrapped it in a parent container.
  2. Played with font-sizing.

Here is the video attached.

Summary by CodeRabbit

  • New Features

    • Added a dedicated branding block in the navbar with logo and “Opensox AI” label.
    • Mobile toggle and animated dropdown for navigation, with backdrop and Escape-to-close behavior; Get Started and Contribute repositioned for responsive visibility.
  • Style

    • Restored full navigation links on larger viewports with refined layout and active states.
    • Renamed "How it works" to "Workflow" (anchor now at /#workflow) and adjusted header width/alignment.

  • Focus areas:
    • apps/web/src/components/landing-sections/navbar.tsx — verify responsive conditional rendering, DOM order, and accessibility (focus return, keyboard handling).
    • Mobile panel behavior — backdrop click-to-close, Escape-key handling, and motion animation lifecycle.
    • Width change (w-[94%]w-[96%]) — check medium-screen overflow (#196) and layout alignment.
    • apps/web/tsconfig.json — confirm build/tooling compatibility with JSX preserve.

Clarify the necessity of the tsconfig.json JSX compilation change and confirm it's required to fix the navbar overflow issue, or revert if unrelated.

70-79: Improve logo alt text for accessibility

alt="background" is misleading here; this is clearly a branding logo. Consider something like alt="OpenSox AI logo" so screen readers convey meaningful context.

83-98: Use stable keys for mapped links instead of array index

Both desktop and mobile navs use key={index} when mapping links. If the order of links ever changes dynamically, index keys can lead to subtle React reconciliation issues. href or a combination of name + href would be more stable.

Example:

- {links.map((link, index) => {
+ {links.map((link) => {
...
-   <Link
-     key={index}
+   <Link
+     key={link.href}

Also applies to: 129-138

61-68: Minor a11y enhancement for mobile toggle / dropdown

The Escape handling and aria-expanded usage are solid. For better screen-reader support, you could:

  • Add aria-controls on the toggle button pointing to the dropdown container’s id.
  • Optionally mark the dropdown with role="menu" and links with role="menuitem" if you want strict menu semantics.

Not blocking, but nice polish.

51-56: Responsive layout changes look appropriate for medium-width overflow fix

The new wrapper (w-full justify-between) plus hiding the GitHub + “Get Started” CTAs on md (hidden lg:flex and flex md:hidden lg:flex) should significantly reduce pressure on horizontal space while keeping desktop and mobile behaviors intact. The width adjustment to w-[96%] md:w-[80%] for the fixed nav also looks reasonable and should avoid edge overflow while remaining visually centered.

Please sanity-check on:

  • Narrow phones (<md), especially with the mobile dropdown open.
  • The mdlg range with long link labels or increased system font scaling.

Also applies to: 58-83, 100-120

111-118: Confirm PrimaryButton prop name (classname vs className)

PrimaryButton is passed classname=" ... ". If the component expects the conventional className prop, styles won’t apply. If classname is intentional and matches the component API, ignore this.

It’s worth double-checking the PrimaryButton definition to ensure the prop name here is correct.

5-9: imports look fine; consider using an absolute path for primarybutton

import order matches the guidelines. for consistency with @/lib/utils, consider importing primarybutton via the @/ alias (e.g. @/components/ui/custom-button) instead of a relative path, if available.

111-119: verify primarybutton does not render a <button> inside the link

<link> wrapping primarybutton is fine as long as primarybutton does not itself render a <button> (nested interactive elements are invalid and hurt accessibility).

if primarybutton is currently a real <button>, consider:

  • swapping the outer <link> for a styled anchor-only primarybutton variant, or
  • updating primarybutton to support an asChild / as="a" pattern and let link provide the underlying <a>.

58-69: good mobile experience and escape handling

the hamburger toggle (button with aria-label / aria-expanded) plus the animated mobile dropdown and escape-key handling provide a solid mobile and keyboard story for the nav; structure and behavior here look good.

🛠️ Refactor suggestion | 🟠 Major

replace hardcoded hex colors with design-token tailwind classes

both the desktop and mobile “contribute” buttons use arbitrary hex colors (bg-[#0d1117], hover:bg-[#161b22], border-[#30363d]), which violates the “never use hardcoded hex values” rule and bypasses the design token system.

please swap these for semantic tailwind classes backed by the design tokens (e.g. bg-surface-primary, hover:bg-surface-primary-hover, border-border-subtle, text-text-primary or similar from design-tokens.ts / tailwind.config.ts).

70-78: logo alt text still not descriptive

the logo image still uses alt="background", which doesn't describe the image content and fails accessibility guidelines. this was flagged in a previous review.

apply this diff:

               <Image
                 src="/assets/logo.svg"

                 className="object-cover w-full h-full"
               />

as per coding guidelines: "provide alt text for images" - use meaningful labels so screen readers can correctly announce the brand.

106-106: replace hardcoded hex colors with design token classes

both the desktop (line 106) and mobile (line 144) "contribute" buttons still use arbitrary hex colors (bg-[#0d1117], hover:bg-[#161b22], border-[#30363d]), which violates the design system guidelines. this was flagged in a previous review.

replace these with semantic tailwind classes from your design tokens (e.g., bg-surface-primary, hover:bg-surface-secondary, border-border-subtle, or equivalent from apps/web/src/lib/design-tokens.ts).

as per coding guidelines: "never use hardcoded hex values directly in components; always reference colors from the design token system using tailwind classes."

8-9: reorder imports per coding guidelines

the import order should be: react → third-party → local components → utils → types. PrimaryButton (local component) should come before cn (utils).

apply this diff:

-import { cn } from "@/lib/utils";
 import PrimaryButton from "../ui/custom-button";
+import { cn } from "@/lib/utils";

122-150: consider adding click-outside-to-close for mobile dropdown

the mobile dropdown currently closes via the X button or Escape key, but doesn't close when clicking outside the menu. adding click-outside-to-close is a common ux pattern that improves the mobile experience.

you can add a click handler to close the menu when clicking outside:

React.useEffect(() => {
  if (!isOpen) return;

  const handleClickOutside = (e: MouseEvent) => {
    const target = e.target as HTMLElement;
    if (!target.closest('.mobile-dropdown') && !target.closest('[aria-label="Toggle navigation menu"]')) {
      setIsOpen(false);
    }
  };

  document.addEventListener('mousedown', handleClickOutside);
  return () => document.removeEventListener('mousedown', handleClickOutside);
}, [isOpen]);

and add className="mobile-dropdown" to the motion.div on line 123.

115-115: Verify PrimaryButton prop name usage

The prop is spelled classname (lowercase 'n'), but React convention uses className (uppercase 'N'). Confirm that the PrimaryButton component accepts classname as a prop. If the component expects className instead, update line 115:

-            <PrimaryButton classname=" px-3 py-2 text-sm whitespace-nowrap md:px-5 md:py-3 md:text-base">
+            <PrimaryButton className=" px-3 py-2 text-sm whitespace-nowrap md:px-5 md:py-3 md:text-base">

55-55: Verify navbar layout fits at lg breakpoint (1024px)

The width increase to 96% and CTA repositioning (Contribute moved to xl breakpoint) are steps in the right direction. However, test at the lg breakpoint (1024px) to confirm the navbar doesn't overflow with the md:w-[80%] constraint, 6 navigation links, Get Started button, logo, and spacing all fitting within the viewport.

⚠️ Potential issue | 🟡 Minor

inconsistent navigation link label

the link label "working" is inconsistent with other properly capitalized navigation items and appears incomplete. based on the href /#HIW (How It Works), this should likely be "How It Works" or "How it Works" to match the capitalization pattern of other links.

apply this diff:

-    { name: "working", href: "/#HIW" },
+    { name: "How It Works", href: "/#HIW" },

🤖 Prompt for AI Agents
In apps/web/src/components/landing-sections/navbar.tsx around line 40, the
navigation item label is "working" which is inconsistent and likely meant to be
"How It Works"; update the object so its name property is "How It Works" (or
"How it Works" to match project capitalization rules) ensuring the rest of the
nav array and any tests or i18n keys referencing this label are updated if
needed.

@deveshru2712 can you pls find a solution to fix it while keep "How it works"? becuase "working" alone is confusing.

36-44: workflow nav label is inconsistent with the section heading and earlier copy

the link now shows workflow (lowercase) while the target section heading is still “How it Works”, and earlier discussion requested keeping the “How it works” label. i’d suggest keeping the user-facing label while still pointing to /#workflow, e.g.:

-    { name: "workflow", href: "/#workflow" },
+    { name: "How it Works", href: "/#workflow" },
♻️ Duplicate comments (2)
apps/web/src/components/landing-sections/navbar.tsx (2)

106-107: contribute buttons still use hardcoded hex colors instead of design-token tailwind classes

both desktop and mobile “contribute” buttons use bg-[#0d1117], hover:bg-[#161b22], and border-[#30363d], which bypass the design-token system and violate the “never use hardcoded hex values” rule. please replace these with semantic tailwind classes wired to the design tokens (e.g. surface/background + border tokens) and, if helpful, centralize this as a shared button style so both places stay consistent.

Also applies to: 139-145

70-78: logo alt text is not descriptive

using alt="background" doesn’t describe the logo and conflicts with the “provide alt text for images” guideline; prefer something like alt="Opensox AI logo" so screen readers announce the brand correctly.

🧹 Nitpick comments (2)
apps/web/src/components/landing-sections/how-it-works.tsx (1)

34-67: workflow section id matches navbar anchor, but styling still bypasses design tokens

renaming the container id to workflow correctly lines up with the navbar link to /#workflow, so in-page navigation should work as expected. however, border-[#252525] and the inline styles using #252525 bypass the design-token/tailwind color system; when you next touch this section, consider moving these to semantic tailwind utility classes (or a small reusable class) backed by the design tokens instead.

apps/web/src/components/landing-sections/navbar.tsx (1)

5-9: prefer absolute import for PrimaryButton

for consistency with the @/ alias guideline, consider importing this as @/components/ui/custom-button instead of a relative "../ui/custom-button" path; not blocking, but keeps imports uniform.

5-30: data structure for steps looks consistent with Features props

the three entries provide id, title, content, image, and icon, which matches the expected shape for Features; no issues here.

apps/web/src/components/landing-sections/navbar.tsx (1)

55-120: navbar layout changes should reduce medium-width overflow, but please re-test on tablets

wrapping the contents in a w-full flex row and using flex md:hidden lg:flex for the “Get Started” button means that at md widths only the logo + links are shown (no CTAs), and at lg there’s just a single CTA plus the links, all within a slightly wider container (w-[96%] md:w-[80%]). this looks like a solid fix for the medium-width overflow issue; please re-check at iPad/large tablet widths (e.g. 1024×1366 in devtools, both orientations) to confirm there’s no clipping or wrapping.

36-44: restore a clear, capitalized label for the workflow section

the "workflow" label is both lowercased (inconsistent with other items) and deviates from the requested “how it works” wording in the issue discussion. switching back improves clarity and consistency while still targeting /#workflow.

-  const links = [
-    { name: "Pricing", href: "/pricing" },
-    { name: "Features", href: "/#features" },
-    { name: "Demo", href: "/#demo" },
-    { name: "workflow", href: "/#workflow" },
-    { name: "Stats", href: "/#Stats" },
-    { name: "Contact", href: "/#Contact" },
-    { name: "FAQ", href: "/#faq" },
-  ];
+  const links = [
+    { name: "Pricing", href: "/pricing" },
+    { name: "Features", href: "/#features" },
+    { name: "Demo", href: "/#demo" },
+    { name: "How it works", href: "/#workflow" },
+    { name: "Stats", href: "/#Stats" },
+    { name: "Contact", href: "/#Contact" },
+    { name: "FAQ", href: "/#faq" },
+  ];

71-76: make logo alt text descriptive

alt="background" doesn’t describe the image and conflicts with the “provide alt text for images” rule. use a brand‑oriented alt so screen readers announce it correctly.

-              <Image
-                src="/assets/logo.svg"
-                alt="background"
-                fill
-                className="object-cover w-full h-full"
-              />
+              <Image
+                src="/assets/logo.svg"
+                alt="Opensox AI logo"
+                fill
+                className="object-cover w-full h-full"
+              />

As per coding guidelines / retrieved learnings on alt text.

🧹 Nitpick comments (3)
apps/web/src/components/landing-sections/navbar.tsx (3)

51-56: double‑check medium / large tablet layouts after label change

the container width setup (w-[96%] md:w-[80%]) combined with the desktop links and the visible “get started” cta at lg looks reasonable, but once the “how it works” label is restored, space at ~1024px (ipad pro) may again be tight.

i’d keep this layout but explicitly re‑verify at 768–1024px and especially 1024px; if overflow reappears, consider slightly increasing the md+ width (e.g. md:w-[85%] or md:w-[90%]) or reducing gap/text size in that band.

61-68: hook up aria-controls between the menu button and mobile dropdown

the mobile toggle already has aria-label and aria-expanded, which is good, but wiring aria-controls to the dropdown improves a11y for assistive tech and matches the “implement accessibility features on interactive elements” guidance.

-          <button
-            className="md:hidden text-white"
-            onClick={() => setIsOpen(!isOpen)}
-            aria-label="Toggle navigation menu"
-            aria-expanded={isOpen}
-          >
+          <button
+            className="md:hidden text-white"
+            onClick={() => setIsOpen(!isOpen)}
+            aria-label="Toggle navigation menu"
+            aria-expanded={isOpen}
+            aria-controls="mobile-nav"
+          >
             {isOpen ? <X size={28} /> : <Menu size={28} />}
           </button>
...
-        {isOpen && (
-          <motion.div
+        {isOpen && (
+          <motion.div
+            id="mobile-nav"
             initial={{ opacity: 0, y: -10 }}
             animate={{ opacity: 1, y: 0 }}
             transition={{ duration: 0.25 }}

Based on learnings about accessibility and keyboard navigation.

11-16: add an explicit function type for navbar

to align with the “define a type when defining const functions” guidance for ts/tsx files, you can type the component as react.fc.

-const Navbar = () => {
+const Navbar: React.FC = () => {

As per coding guidelines for apps/web tsx components.

100-110: replace hardcoded hex colors on “contribute” buttons with design‑token tailwind classes

both desktop and mobile “contribute” ctAs use raw hex colors (bg-[#0d1117], hover:bg-[#161b22], border-[#30363d]), which violates the “never use hardcoded hex values; always use design tokens via tailwind classes” rule and bypasses your design system.

please swap these for semantic, token‑backed classes from design-tokens.ts / tailwind.config.ts (e.g. surface/background + border + text tokens) and align the radius with your button spec if needed.

100-120: Replace hardcoded hex colors with design-token Tailwind classes.

The Contribute button still uses arbitrary hex colors (bg-[#0d1117], hover:bg-[#161b22], border-[#30363d]), which was flagged in the previous review. This violates the "NEVER use hardcoded hex values" guideline.

Replace these with semantic Tailwind classes from the design token system (e.g., bg-surface-primary, hover:bg-surface-secondary, border-border-subtle).

As per coding guidelines: "NEVER use hardcoded hex values directly in components; ALWAYS reference colors from the design token system using Tailwind classes."

139-148: Replace hardcoded hex colors with design-token Tailwind classes.

The mobile Contribute link uses the same hardcoded hex colors as the desktop version. This must be updated to use semantic colors from the design token system.

Apply the same color replacements as needed for the desktop Contribute button to maintain consistency across both mobile and desktop variants.

As per coding guidelines: "NEVER use hardcoded hex values directly in components; ALWAYS reference colors from the design token system using Tailwind classes."

11-34: LGTM!

The state management and event handlers are implemented correctly. The Escape key handler properly cleans up and manages focus.

For enhanced type safety, consider adding explicit types to useState calls:

-  const [showNavbar, setShowNavbar] = useState(isPricingPage ? true : false);
-  const [isOpen, setIsOpen] = useState(false);
+  const [showNavbar, setShowNavbar] = useState<boolean>(isPricingPage ? true : false);
+  const [isOpen, setIsOpen] = useState<boolean>(false);

122-150: Consider adding focus management for improved accessibility.

The mobile dropdown could benefit from focus management when it opens:

  • Move focus to the first link when the menu opens
  • Implement a focus trap to prevent tabbing outside the dropdown
  • Return focus to the toggle button when the menu closes

Example implementation:

const firstLinkRef = useRef<HTMLAnchorElement>(null);

useEffect(() => {
  if (isOpen) {
    firstLinkRef.current?.focus();
  }
}, [isOpen]);

// In the first link:
<Link
  ref={firstLinkRef}
  // ... other props
>

Based on learnings: Implement accessibility features on interactive elements and ensure keyboard navigation works in interactive components.

1-9: LGTM!

Import organization follows the coding guidelines correctly: React → third-party libraries → local components → utilities.

36-44: LGTM!

The "Workflow" label is now consistent with the capitalization pattern of other navigation items and properly reflects the section it links to.

58-80: LGTM!

The logo section and mobile toggle are well-implemented with proper accessibility features:

  • Descriptive alt text for the logo image
  • ARIA attributes on the toggle button
  • Responsive sizing and layout

81-98: LGTM!

Desktop navigation links properly use semantic colors (text-text-tertiary) and implement responsive visibility and text sizing correctly.
