How to install from github? #7

Hi!
Never installed an extension from github.
Tried to download as zip, and replaced existing (old) extension files results to error messages. Solved them by using installer db tool but opening existing content or creating new results to empty right part in browser (no error).
Tried to download as zip and installing by extension manager results to -> "Extension imagecycle is not available" and no installation of it.
Could not be that complicated I gues... ^^
All on newly upgraded 7.6.23 version.
