Using TinCanJS in my application

Hello everyone, I did read the documentation but still not clear for me.
I have a web application, and it has storyLine lectures. Can I use npm to install tincan API and communicate with storyLine product on my .js class?
Or what I need to do to communicate between my app and storyLine inside of my app.
