This kind of method should go in the LRMF3 package probably. Adding an issue because someone wrote code to do this in the wild (i.e. https://github.com/adamlauretig/CRAN_total_correlation/blob/master/cran_mapping_vsp.R) and we should provide tools to do this ourselves.
