External links to Github, App Store , Play Store and Open Transit Software Foundation open on same page instead of new tab

Description
In the bottom page, external links (such as those to GitHub, the App Store, the Play Store, and the Open Transit Software Foundation) currently open in the same tab. Ideally, these links should open in a new tab to avoid disrupting the user's current session.

Reproduction Steps
Go to the bottom of home page.
Click on any external link, such as "github"
Observe that the link opens in the same tab.

Expectation
External links on this page should open in a new tab to ensure a smoother user experience and prevent disruption to the current session.

Resolution

• I would be interested in resolving this bug by updating the code to ensure external links open in a new tab
