Merge in Changes From Forked Version of RepositoryHandler

There is a forked version here:

From running a diff between the two, it looks like many of the differences are just code style preferences, such as spaces before function definitions. However, there are some code differences between the two. It might be prudent to go through and compare.

Last time I was talking to Chris he told me that most of the differences are, as you say, just code style changes, but anyway, I will have a look and try to merge the repos as soon as possible.
