Supported OpenJDK version

Describe the question or problem

Release notes of 2021.03.22 mention that OpenJDK < 11 is needed. Is this still valid in the latest version? If not one could remove the pin in the bioconda package (xref bioconda/bioconda-recipes#38855).

It appears to not be true with the latest version; it probably hasn't been true since I made an update to dependencies in May 2019.

The reason we started adding that message to the release notes was because Java 9 and 10 had deprecated the built-in java.xml.bind-api/jaxb-impl libraries, and Java 11 removed them. Java 9 and 10 started reporting warnings during runtime, and the fix to resolve that dependency issue (even though it is an issue in Java dependencies that MS-GF+ uses) was to add those libraries as explicit dependencies. I ran the latest version on OpenJDK 11 last week, and I just tested it on OpenJDK 17, and both worked fine.

I don't know who manages the bioconda package though.

Also, the note that has been in the release notes that mention Java 11 say 'you may encounter issues running MS-GF+ with Java 11 or newer.'

This was because there hadn't been extensive testing on the newer versions of Java.
