4.0.2 causing error in commented out SCSS

I have a SASS variable in a commented out SCSS-code, so it should not be considered while compiling.
However, the compiler throws an error saying it is missing the variable definition and pointing to the commented out part of SCSS.

I would not expect an compilation error on a comment out SCSS part.
