request: option to hide sidebar

This is a formal request to see if someone can add functionality to make the menu sidebar hidden. Most of the time, people don't use the sidebar because they are coming in with a link on a paper, and it often takes up precious real estate of the screen. 90% of the time I cant read file names because they are all squished together.
