Can't create account

Hey. I'm trying to create an account so I can test out bb, but I am failing. When I clicked on the email verification link the page gives me the error: "Failed to verify email: Load failed". I don't see any way to trigger a new email verification. So, I tried creating another account with a different email address, but I get an error "Load failed" on the sign up page, so not even getting to email verification. And when I tried "forgot password", in case that would help, I get the helpful "This feature is coming soon".

Thanks for your report. Could you please confirm, when you are verifying your email, is the Beyond Better app running and what is the status of the server components; is the status 'running' or 'stopped'?

I've tried it from the command line and from the app.

If I launch the app, it says Server Status: Running. The web view window pops up. When I try to log in, I get HTTP error! status: 401. Note that I was never able to email verify my account, so I'm not surprised that I can't log in.

When I try it from the command line, I get:

Then the web page that launches says:

I have heard that report before, but have not been able to isolate the cause. Would you mind sharing the api log file. On Macs you can find it here:

Either the api or bui process is failing to start. If there is a bui log file, please share that as well.

Another thought... Have you changed the TLS settings in the app? If so, have you run bb secure on to generate TLS certs? This page has more details.

There is no bui log file. The api log file shows "__isAuthError":true,"name":"AuthApiError","status":400,"code":"email_not_confirmed"

As I mentioned, the email confirmation link generated an error and I don't see any mechanism to regenerate it.

I have TLS off right now, since I wanted one less thing to debug until I got this working.

Thanks for the api.log. I may know what the problem is. Can I check, are you using Safari?

Safari blocks requests to the API when TLS is disabled. The email confirmation gets processed via the API, so confirmation fails.

I'll make a change so that email confirmation is handled differently. I'll advise you here when that fix is ready.

@genec1 The signup and email verification process has been redesigned.

You can either sign up with a new email, or request the email verification again:

Once the email is verified, using the in-app chat page to log in should work as expected.

Thanks, that worked!

Note that the download updated app link from the web view doesn't properly trigger a download - rather it tries to display the binary code in the window itself.
