🌍 Problem Statement
Sri Lanka is a country rich in cultural heritage, biodiversity, and scenic beauty, yet tourists often face challenges such as limited access to up-to-date travel information, language barriers, and lack of personalized recommendations. Many travelers rely on fragmented sources and end up missing out on hidden gems and local experiences. There's a need for a centralized, intelligent, and easy-to-use platform that offers guided travel assistance tailored to both international and local tourists.
🛠️ Your Solution
I built a Sri Lankan Tourist Guide Chat Assistant using the Serverless GenAI assistant with LangChain azd template. The assistant helps users get quick, accurate, and conversational travel recommendations tailored to Sri Lanka.
Template used: azure-samples/azure-ai-langchain – Serverless GenAI Assistant with LangChain
Modifications:
Replaced the default data source with a set of PDFs containing travel guides, local insights, and tourism board content.
Used Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG) to ground answers in actual travel documents.
Customized the user interface to reflect a Sri Lankan tourism theme—warm, inviting, and mobile-friendly for travelers on the go.
Enhanced the prompt templates to provide context-aware responses about locations, experiences, food, and history.
This approach makes the assistant both informative and reliable, allowing tourists to ask natural questions and receive responses based on real documents.
